Lexar Recalls USB drives for Burn Hazard

ADVERTISEMENTS

Lexar has recalled around 66,000 units of its Jumpdrives for potential burn hazard while using which can cause property damage. The reason for recall is found to be overheating of the drives while in use.

Now a days I am fearing the use of my PC because I don’t know when something is going to burn or explode. I feel hardware manufacturers have to concentrate more on the thermal design of their products. I think you are all aware of the recent overheating issues from Dell and Apple.

Let me know your opinion on these????

  1. Hi, nowadays am also afraid to use my laptop for more than a hour due to overheating. Due to commercial targets, laptop manufacturers cut the technological investment for lower price which is the reason for this. Am working on cooling of heat generating electronic components, not for computers, but for space applications as my project was sponsored by ISRO. Techonological innovation by our people can cut the cost of importing technology which can meet both the targets of manufacturers (reduced price as well as available technology at cheap price). Government can demand private IT sectors to concentrate on R&D which has the potential.

  2. Hi Ramanujam you it is good to learn that you have started blogging…. What laptop are you using….
