I am writing this tutorial because I own this player and this player is region locked to region 5, i.e it can play only DVDs which are meant to be played in the following regions India, Africa, Russia and former USSR countries.

One of my friends sent me the procedure for making this player region free. So here are the steps for making your Philips DVD 622 dvd player region free. For doing this all you need is your player’s remote.
The following steps are to be carried out using the remote which came with your player.

1. Open the tray using the stop button of the remote. (Continously press the stop button till the tray gets opened)

2. Now press 2812 on the remote and continue pressing until you get 9 on your TV screen display.

3. Now switch OFF your player, wait for 2 minutes and now switch it ON.

Now your player should be region free and you can watch movies from all the region of the world.

  8. Thanks a lot for stumble AshFame. :) This worked for my player flawlessly.

  9. Thank you for the article, Shivaranjan. One caveat I found: I pressed 2812 and held the 2, then shut down. It seemed to disable the video output, because when I powered it on, I got no video. I opened the tray, hit 2811, and the video came back on. Then I followed Mac’s advice above and it worked. Whew! You might want to reword the article a little bit. :)
