My Computer is Down….
ADVERTISEMENTS
I won’t be able to update my blog for a couple of days as my computer’s motherboard is dead.
I am in process of repairing it and it may take a few days for me to repair it.
So my binary life right now has come to halt. I hope my computer should be fine in a few days.
All you guys and gals please bear with me for a few days.

Wishing your motherboard for speedy (really speedy eh!) recovery.
Aww, come back soon
If the Mobo’s really a ‘BiG’ trouble, get another
I think you bother your “mother” so much. Let her rest for a while!
Your “mother” is sick because you keep her awake 24hr…now she lies in peace…haha
Hope to see you back soon…atleast when I end my break on July 24th
man , these motherboard troubles are awful , hope you can repair it soon .
I dont think keeping the comp ON under good conditions for eternity even would spoil it… or would it?
Swap a new one in, takes hardly 5mins and run a repair install on XP. Tops 1hr you’re done
Also, its handy to have more than 1 pc, makes for keeping your “binary life” safe
Hi Qwerty,
Keeping computer ON even for several hours will fry your electronic components. Technology for cooling these components are not done (in all commercially available computers, in India) for eternity, but only for several hours above which it burst out its bubble at you!
Qwerty you are right… under good ventilation conditions we can run the computer for eternity…..

I suppose that means buying atleast 4 fans or keeping your CPU’s Cabinet open?
Mine is now running straight for 3 weeks, still no temp diffrences with the new added fan, thats why I had a doubt! I have 3 fans including the PSU
Yes John…. you need to have more fans or the best thing is open the cabinet. In my case if I open my cabinet my temperature increases..as I have put the fans in such a way that the air flow is maximum when the case is closed….
Qwerty it is a good thing that you have 3 fans. But be sure to blow the dust from the cabinet every two weeks else the ventilation system won’t be good enough…
Yeah, dust was alwyas my reason of overheats, now I placed it in a less-dust part of my room, so kinda lasts longer
I can see that you are using Ubuntu Linux…
I am downloading Ubuntu 6.06 if I have some problems in installation I will ask you buddy… so pls help me….
Sure, i’ll help if I can :]
Btw, my BenQ 1650 didnt run the live disc well, the installer kept giving errors midway, then I used my Sammy and it went fine. Same happens with the XP discs too [Midway file missing errors] ! Whats wrong, compatiblity issues?
I think your drive may have some reading issues with the dyes which were used in your Ubuntu and XP disc’s. Is Unbuntu a pressed disc or a CD-R or CD-RW and XP??
Another Possiblity is that if the disc’s were CD-R’s, and if the writing quality was poor then also you will have this problem. For CD-R’s and CD-RW’s the C1 and C2 errors should be low…. may the C2 errors are very high in those particular disc…. Scan those disc’s using Nero quality scan and let me know….
Oh, maybe. I’ll do the scans later, but what am really worried about is that the same happens if I give the discs to my friend, some get it started and then fail in middle and some cant run em itself!
Will I be able to install all the softwares compatible to Win XP in Ubuntu? I think I’d better change to it if it does support the software installations!
Well, not those exe’s or msi’s but to almost every software on windows, there is a linux open-source counterpart available! I suggest you try the live cd for a few times and decide yourself. You can run most windows through a wine-emulator though.
Qwertry is right ramanujam……………..
I tried to install the Ubuntu but it is not istalling…… I think it my hardware is not compatible with it……. What is your config….
There is nothing like hardware incompatiblity! What is your error? Ubuntu is just not yet ready for X2s but for Intels it should work, but I dont know if you must install the 64 one or the normal 32.
I think I won’t be able to install the softwares which am using for my research purpose. I need Mathcad, axum and GiD preprocessor for visualisation to be installed. I think fortran compiler can be installed, however, but that too am not sure! I have to look up into the forum for supported softwares. It promises hundreds of windows compatible softwares can be installed, did the above list falls into this hundreds or otherwise?
Guys
I want to install a linux distro that can be installed and uninstalled easily . I tried Mandrake but it was not compatible with my mboard display and i spoilt my bootloader after uninstalling it .
@Madhur - Lol… How’d you ‘Uninstall’ an OS ? Format right?
Every linux is that way, after you format and remove it, just pop in your XP disc and run Fixmbr. :]
Try Ubuntu if you can, tis the easiest to manage and has lot of supportive communities.
Thanks man , i was worried about that thing . How is Fedora .
Fedora let me down. It officially sucks now. At least to me.
Isn’t it ironic for this post to be most popular? Just isn’t positive
Well said Harsh… this post is popular because it has max no of comments.
Haha ok, so that’s how it works!
