AMD Quad Core Processor Design Completed

ADVERTISEMENTS

AMD has claimed that it has completed the design phase of its quad core processor. Then new processor will be built using 65nm technology. These quad core chips will be based on the newly designed AMD K8L microarchitecture and will be of socket F type. These chips are expected to sport shared level-two cache along with dual-channel registered DDR2 memory controller and their expected code name is Deerhound. You can expect these chips to be demonstrated by end of year 2006.

I feel AMD is really working hard to counter Intel’s Core 2 Duo processors.
