Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo (Merom) Starts Shipping

Intel starts shipping its Core 2 Duo mobile version (code named merom) laptops, merom is the mobile version of the desktop conroe and a replacement for current Core Duo (code name yonah). The merom chip comes in three versions: T5500, T7200 and T7600. The merom chips are pin compatible with existing yonah chips, many laptop manufacturers will upgrade their existing Core Duo (yonah) based products to Core 2 Duo (merom).
