When Will Your Gmail Account have 3GB of Storage Space?

ADVERTISEMENTS

Have you ever wondered, when would Gmail the most popular e-mail service currently available on planet earth would attain 3GB of storage?

If yes then, Gmail would attain 3GB of storage space on July 7, 2008 at 3:04:24 PM which nearly coincides with American Independence Day.
How is the Date and time Calculated?

From 12:08:18 to 12:12:16 on September 7, 2006, GMail’s storage (as indicated by their home page counter) increased from 2,762.174 to 2,762.175 MB. That means it took 3:58 (or 238 seconds) to increase 1KB. It will take (238 x 1,000 / 60 / 60) = 66.11 hours to increase one megabyte.

To get from 2,762.175 to 3,000.000 MB (3GB), it’ll take another 237.825 MB. Multiply this by 66.11 hours and you get 15,722.875 hours, or 655.12 days.

September 7, 2006 + 655.12 days = July 7, 2008 at 3:04:24 PM.
