Intel officially announced their quad core offering as Core 2 Quad instead of Core 2 Quadro which was from launch material from late September 2006.

Intel Core 2 Quad (code name Kentsfield ) will be available in two flavours:

• Core 2 Quad QX6700 clocking at 2.66Ghz with 4MB cache using the existing 775 socket packaging.
• Core 2 Quad Q6600 clocking at 2.4Ghz with 4MB cache using the existing 775 socket packaging.
