Driverless USB Webcam from Creative

Creative Live! Cam Optia is the latest offering from Creative, which sports VGA resolution, tilt and swivel head, 30fps framerate, USB connectivity, privacy control and USB Video class.

What makes this cam standout from the crowd is the fact that it does not require any driver software installation assuming that you are running Windows XP with SP2 and Windows Vista.

My View:
I feel we need more products like this one which don’t require any driver installation. This product is initially designed for Windows XP with SP2 and Windows Vista, I wish they could have designed it in such a way that could make it really driver free hardware that would be compatible with any operating system.

  2. Hardwares of plug n play type has a bright future bcoz its very easy to operate, no installation required :).

    The way it works is that all the drivers are standard ones already in the XP operating system, and therefore you never need to install any. So for it to work with any Os would be a major thing and extremely hard to do.

    One thing with driverless products is that they are usually inferior in quality and function because they only use standard drivers and can’t add new things to it witho adding a new driver.
