Internet Explorer Tip: How to Open Internet Explorer with a Blank Page using Shortcut

Many people still use Internet explorer even though we have better alternatives like Opera, Firefox etc. This tip would tell you how you can create a shortcut and open Internet Explorer with a blank page.

How to Open Internet Explorer with a Blank Page using Shortcut

1. Create a shortcut in that enter the below mentioned entry (include the quotes)

"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" -nohome

internet_explorer_homepage

2. Now save the shortcut with name of your choice.

3. That is it now when you use this shortcut to open Internet Explorer it would open with a blank page

You can also set the homepage to blank by entering “about:blank” in Internet Options > Homepage.

  1. I love IE since 4.01 for one big reason… you don’t need to execute the application as you need to do with any other browser…

    Just open any folder from the desktop (My Computer, recycle bin, network neighbourhood and anything else), type the url and press enter and you got the site…

    Is there a way to open to the blank page and drop the
    cursor in the address bar?
