Windows Vista by default does not provide a GUI option to un-associate file types. There may be instances when you install some software it may get associated with files as default software though you don’t want this to happen. Here comes Unassoc which is a free easy to use utility using which you can un-associate file types in Windows Vista quickly.

Choose the specific file that you wish to un-associate and hit the ‘Remove file association (user)’ button, this will delete the user specific file association. There is another option which is available is ‘Delete file type’ using this option removes both the user-specific and global associations for the chosen file type from the registry. The best part this utility does not require installation, just download it and run it.
This utility is only meant for Windows Vista.
