NetDrives is a free tool using which you can quickly map, share and manage network or shared drives in Windows. This is tool is similar to Network Drive Mapper which we covered earlier and offers better user interface and features.

Features of NetDrives – Simple Network Share Management

To add an new shared drive or network share use the “Add Share” option. Enter the share drive or network drive details like share name, network address and login details like user name and password of shared drive. This will add the shared or network drive it also offers a option to assign a drive letter for the shared drive. This software supports both UNC connections and mapped network drives. The user name and password are store securely using Secure password storage (based on Windows Data Protection API).

Connecting, disconnecting and browsing shared drives or network drives can be done using the options from the top panel or by right clicking a particular shared drive and using the options provided on that menu.

You can also view the connection history details for a particular shared or network drive using the “Connection History” option that is available on right clicking a shared or network drive.

If you wish to organize the order of the shared drive that are displayed then you can use the the organize option which allows you to change the order of the network drives and also if you prefer you can change or edit their names over there.

NetDrives sits in your taskbar and displays the connection status and also alerts you if errors are encountered for a particular network share.

In case if you want a particular network share to get connected at the Windows startup then you can configure it in NetDrives. We found this tool to be extremely useful and if you are using network shares then this tool is a must have for you.
